Andrea Bocelli, the superb voice that opera had been waiting for years, made his debut on the operatic stage in 1994. From then on, the tone of his voice has brought tenderness to the world and his fame has increased exponentially. Accompanied by a 71-piece orchestra and 60-person choir, Bocelli will perform in a show presented by Opera Tampa at the St. Pete Times Forum on December 4 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature music from his vast platinum-selling catalogue, covering both traditional and his world-famous romantic crossover repertoire.
With over 65 million record sales, Bocelli also earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records by occupying the first, second and third place in the American classical music charts. Bocelli’s name is also frequently found heading the list of artists appearing at concerts to support causes such as aid for the earthquake victims of the Abruzzo, alongside stars such as Angela Gheorghiu and in evocative venues like the Colosseum in Rome.
Bocelli’s Tampa performance is one of six shows scheduled for 2011 in the United States. Other locations include Columbus, Washington, D.C., New York City, Las Vegas and Anaheim.
