In a continuing effort to reach out to the community and spread the growth of hockey in the Tampa Bay area, the Lightning have created several Fan Development programs. These programs include Hockey Rules w/ Nigel Kirwan, Street Lightning, Rink of Dreams, the Outback Intermission Challenge, the Tampa Bay Lightning Clinic Program, Hockey and Heels/ Hockey 101 and the Subway Kid’s Ice Crew.
Most of these programs are free of charge or may be used as fund-raising opportunities for local nonprofit organizations, youth groups and educational programs. These programs reach more than 100,000 children of all ages through hundreds of events each year.
The Lightning continue to support several Florida youth hockey events. They include the Statewide Amateur Hockey of Florida (SAHOF) High School Championships, the SAHOF High School All-Star game and the Team Florida Chicago Showcase team.
